Last week, year 4 were lucky enough to have a visit from Beverly from St John's Ambulance, who taught us what we should do when someone is injured. Each class got to spend 2 hours with her.
We made a list of all the different emergency services that are ready to help us when there is an accident and the phone numbers we should call. Afterwards, we were shown some pictures of nasty injuries. We discussed how to apply pressure and use the first aid kit while the emergency services are on the way, if they are needed.
We also had the opportunity to practise tying bandages on each other using the correct methods, this was our favourite part! At the end of the session, we met Kev, the doll, and Beverly told us about the steps we should follow if someone appears unconscious.
Hopefully, we won't need to use our new skills to soon!
